What We Do: Collective Misnomer is an artist run project focused on exhibiting contemporary time-based art (sound, video, performance) on the occupied Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe land in what is currently called Denver, Colorado. Events may take place at various venues so be sure to verify where they are each time.
Money: All shows are suggested donation of $10.00 or pay what you can, unless stated otherwise. No one will be turned away. All the money collected goes to the artists participating in that event equally. Always have. Always will. Collective Misnomer is sustained by those who attend our events, our day jobs, and is not beholden to any external funders. We do what we want.
Curation: The artists in the collective are responsible for what is exhibited. Currently we are planning our events as seasons in advance and won't have much deviation once those are established. While we are not taking submissions for this season we would love to see your work for further consideration. Please look at our exhibition history and upcoming events to be sure you might fit in with what we are doing before you contact us by email (not instagram please).
Traveling/Touring Artists: Are you on a tour of some kind and think you might fit with our programming? Get in touch and we'll see how we can help. If we don’t feel like you’re a good fit or we simply can’t book you due to ______ reason(s) please don’t take it personally. Make sure to give us ample time to respond to you because we are also working artists with jobs and bills to pay. Members Are: artists first, rotating, collaborators, at times anonymous, autonomous, and none of your business. :)
