State Change: A solo screening of Lydia Moyer IN PERSON!!!

Drawing on unrest since Ferguson, these recent experimental videos explore the tension between fragility and terror in contemporary America.  Connecting climate change, the struggle for social justice, and our current political order, the works in State Change alternately speculate on and evoke the sensual reality of the anthropocene.

Lydia Moyer is a visual artist and media maker whose experimental video work is shown widely at film and video festivals in the US and Europe.  She is based in Charlottesville, VA.

Statement: Begun as a straight-forward documentary in 2006 about the Art Farm, an artist's retreat in rural Nebraska, the footage that makes up The Director ultimately found it's resolution as a fantastical exploration of anarchic micro-governance and rural culture. It exists somewhere between a movie and a written text.
